Goan Sorak Curry

For the coconut masala paste:

  • 1 small bowl of shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 Tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 Tsp coriander seeds
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Small onion chopped
  • 6 to 7 dry red chillies
  • 1/2 Tsp turmeric powder

For the Sorak Curry:

  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Small onion chopped
  • 3 Green chillies
  • 1 Tbsp Kokam juice or 3 pieces of Kokam
  • 3 Cups of water
  • Salt to taste

Step by Step Instructions

  • Blend all the ingredients mentioned above for the coconut masala paste to a smooth paste
    and keep the masala paste aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions and fry until transparent.
  • Now add the blended coconut paste and mix well.
  • Add 3 cups of water and ensure it forms a liquid consistency and boils on medium flame.
  • Once the gravy begins to bubble well remove from heat and serve hot with rice or savor it like a soup.


  • You can add vegetables of your choice to the curry as well however ensure that it is liquid consistency.
